Manchester United announced second quarter results on Wednesday afternoon, confirming commercial hit
Manchester United reported a decline in commercial income in its second quarter financial figures. Commercial income for the quarter was £78.5m, down £6.6m compared to the same period last year.
In its second quarter results published on Wednesday afternoon, United revealed sponsorship income hit £37.2m, a decrease of £5.8m. United’s training kit sponsorship deal with Tezos ended at the end of June.
United proceeded this season without a training kit sponsor for the first time since the 2021/2022 season, when their partnership with AON ended. The deal with Tezos was valued at £24m per season.

Matheus Cunha was pictured wearing a Tezos-branded hoodie in his unveiling photo when he joined from Wolves, but his contract had expired by the time Brian Mbeumo arrived.
United announced a fall in sponsorship income in their December financial results, and the club is bracing for further declines as their sleeve sponsorship deal with DXC Technology, worth an estimated £20m, ends at the end of the season.
With Tezos and DXC both leaving, United effectively stand to lose £44m on sponsorship deals this summer unless they can find suitable replacements.
DXC has been featured on the club’s home, away and third kits for four seasons. This multi-year agreement sees DXC further leverage its technical expertise to enhance the way United connects with supporters through digital channels.
The Premier League allowed sleeve sponsorship from the start of the 2017/18 season. United announced Koehler as their first sponsor on their sleeve for next season under a multi-year deal.

This agreement was signed in 2022, paving the way for the arrival of DXC. United insiders insist they have a healthy pipeline of potential sponsors on standby, but the latest financial figures highlight the urgency of securing a deal in the coming months.
Commercial income, which also includes income from retail, merchandising, apparel and product licensing, came in at £41.3m in the second quarter, down £8m compared to the same period last year.
Matchday revenue at Old Trafford was also down on the same period last year. United sources said the £2.5m shortfall was mainly due to United hosting three fewer home cup games this quarter compared to the same period last year.
