The Welsh Football Association is investigating an issue following an “absolutely horrific” brawl in which an adult threw a punch in front of a child during an Under-14s match between Aberkenfig BGC and Trefelin BGC.
Shocking video footage has been released of a fight breaking out between adults while watching a children’s soccer match in Wales. Violence ensued during the final stages of Saturday’s U14 match between Aberkenfig BGC and Trefelin BGC when adults spilled onto the pitch during an altercation.
They threw punches at each other in front of the children on the field as other adults involved urged them to break up. The scuffle lasted about 90 seconds, with many adults falling to the ground and onlookers chanting, “It’s just a game” and “My sons are watching.”
Another was repeatedly heard saying, “Come on, we’re better than this.” The match is understood to have broken out as a result of a Trefelin player being sent off by the referee in charge of the match.

Video shows the officer brandishing a card just before an altercation on the sidelines begins. The match, which took place at Coleg Simnedor i Dadawen in Tondou, Bridgend, was stopped just as the fight began as several adults became involved and children rushed in to intervene.
One witness told Wales Online that the incident was “absolutely horrific” and occurred after a “physical and bloody but not dirty match”. The match was subsequently called off and both clubs conducted internal investigations into the incident.
On Sunday, Trefelin BGC said in a club statement: “As a club, we have been informed of the incident on social media. Trefelin BGC does not condone this behavior in any way and is awaiting reports from relevant match and league officials.”
“We are also conducting an internal investigation. We will update you as needed.”

Abakenfig BGC’s statement further added: “We are aware of a video circulating on social media showing an altercation during one of the junior soccer matches on Saturday, February 21st, involving an opponent and an official of Abakenfig BGC.”
“As a club, we are deeply disappointed by what happened and are also saddened by the extent to which this clip was shared and the amount of comments made online. This action does not reflect the standards, values and expectations we hold as a community-focused football club.”
It added: “We recognize that the video recorded and shared by one of our parents does not show the full extent of the incident and we will compile a full report to the governing body at the appropriate time. However, we fully acknowledge that, regardless of the circumstances, the scenes depicted cast the club in a negative light and cannot be tolerated.”
“We would like to sincerely apologize for the offense and reputational damage caused to match officials, players and the wider football community. We will work with the relevant governing bodies to conduct a thorough internal investigation.”
“We are committed to addressing this issue appropriately and ensuring that lessons are learned to prevent it from happening again. We appreciate your understanding and patience as this process is ongoing.”
The Welsh Football Association has launched a full investigation into the incident, with a spokesperson saying: “The relevant football authorities are aware of the alleged incident and a thorough investigation will take place.”
