AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has given fans an injury update and opened up about the horrific injury he sustained after requiring emergency treatment over the weekend.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek took to social media to update fans on his health status, while also highlighting the devastating impact of the collision that resulted in him being carried off on a stretcher during AC Milan’s game against Parma.
The 30-year-old midfielder was injured in Sunday’s Serie A match when he collided with Parma goalkeeper Edoardo Corbi while attempting a cross. Loftus-Cheek was wearing a head and neck brace and required lengthy treatment before being taken to hospital, where it was reported that she had broken her jaw and several teeth.
Ms Loftus-Cheek shared a photo of herself after the incident, which left her with a swollen lip and a chipped front tooth, as well as an update on her progress following emergency surgery.
“It was a terrible blow but the worst is behind us,” the former Chelsea midfielder wrote in a post on his Instagram account.

“I would like to sincerely thank all the medical staff who have supported me with professionalism and care over the last few hours.
“A special thank you to all my fans who have sent me countless messages of love and support. I have read those messages and they have given me incredible strength.
“Thank you to my teammates. We are a team and a family.
“Now, let us unite and move forward together toward our goals.”
AC Milan released a statement after the 1-0 loss. “AC Milan announced yesterday that Ruben Loftus-Cheek has suffered significant facial trauma, resulting in a fracture of the alveolar process of his jaw.
“The player was admitted to the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery and Dentistry at the Santi Paolo e Carlo ASST, where he underwent surgery today by Dr. Luca Autelitano.
“The surgery to reduce and stabilize the fracture was completely successful. Ruben is in good condition and has been discharged from hospital.”
Estimated recovery time is approximately 8 weeks. ”
Loftus-Cheek is currently on the mend, but the injury and subsequent layoff (estimated to be around two months) could have a negative impact on England’s chances of making the World Cup squad.
The AC Milan star was thought to be a candidate to travel to the United States, Canada and Mexico with the Three Lions in June after being given an international recall by manager Thomas Tuchel in October.
His substitute appearance against Wales was England’s first appearance in over seven years.
