Liverpool are expected to be in the market for defenders in the summer transfer window, with Roma’s Zeki Selik among the names linked with a move to Anfield.
Liverpool’s hopes of signing Roma star Zeki Celik have increased after his agent threw cold water on his move to Juventus. The Turkish national team player’s contract expires at the end of the season, and there are rumors that he will move elsewhere.
Roma’s Serie A rivals Juventus are rumored to be interested, as are Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester City. However, it looked like the Italian side had stolen the march with reports that an agreement had been reached for Çelik to join the Turin giants.
However, his agent Fazil Ozdemir disputes that fact and it appears that is not the case. He said: “Rumors that Zeki has reached an agreement with a club are not accurate.
“He is currently playing for a major club and it is natural that major teams in Italy and England would be interested in a player competing at this level and his name would be associated with those clubs.”

“His contract with Roma expires at the end of the season and he has great respect for the club. He is not focusing on contract or transfer issues at this stage. His full attention and dedication is focused on helping Roma achieve their goals.”
“We believe that all other issues will be professionally and respectfully addressed and resolved in due course.”
Serik, 29, has been at Roma since joining from French side Lille in 2022. He made 137 appearances in all competitions and helped the team reach the Europa League final in his debut season.
Liverpool could sign a new centre-back for next season. Ibrahima Konate’s contract expires at the end of this season, and there are few signs of an extension.

Speaking about the current situation, Liverpool manager Arne Slott said earlier this month: “We’re in negotiations with him, so that’s an expression of what we want. Obviously we want him to stay, but the negotiations are ongoing so we’ll see what happens.”
“If we didn’t want him to stay, we wouldn’t negotiate.[Staying healthy]is just as good for Ibou as it is for Virgil. There is certainly an age difference and that can sometimes have an effect. Ibou has been in very good form lately.
“He had a lot of good games at the beginning of the season, which also contributed to our goals conceded. His overall performance was good, but then he was judged differently because the little mistakes he made quickly led to goals.”
“But since I’ve been here, he’s had a very good partnership with Virgil. And like Virgil, he’s always been healthy. Touch the wood. These two are essential for us, not only because of their quality, but also because we don’t have options at the back.”
