Jack Wilshere was involved in a furious moment with a supporter
Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere had to be dragged away by angry fans after his club Luton Town drew 1-1 with Burton Albion.
Wilshere, 34, was appointed as Luton’s new manager in October, replacing Matt Bloomfield, who was sacked after a slow start to the season. At the time of Wilshere’s arrival, the Hatters were sitting 11th in League One with 16 points from 11 games, and although they have moved up one place since then, their results have not improved as much as some supporters had hoped.
Indeed, after Saturday’s draw with relegation-threatened Burton at Kenilworth Road, fans made their feelings clear by chanting “shame on you” at Wilshere and his players. Booing and jeers ensued, and Wilshere appeared to be confronted by supporters near the tunnel.
However, before the situation could escalate, Wilshere had to be dragged down the tunnel by his own players and away from fans who were furious that the Hatters had missed their chance to close the gap on the top six.

A fan who filmed the footage on social media said: “When you can’t even beat a 19th-placed opponent at home, that’s what’s frustrating. You can see Wilshere going down at the end. They need to sort that out. That’s not good at all.”
Naki Wells’ goal put Luton ahead in the 13th minute and they looked on course for the much-needed three points until Burton equalized in stoppage time from Fabio Tavares.
This means the Hatters’ winless streak now extends to three games, following back-to-back away defeats to Cardiff City and Wigan Athletic. They currently sit six points adrift of the League One play-off places.
Following the draw with Burton, Wilshere said post-match: “First of all, I understand their (fans’) frustration. As I’ve said many times, we need them right now.”
“It’s not that the players aren’t trying. They’re giving their all every day. We’re working really, really hard to try to win games and keep our supporters happy.

“I think you can see that the players really lack belief, lack confidence. It’s difficult when there’s booing in the first few minutes, but we all need to stick together now and we all need to stick together.”
“We don’t have the right to just go out there and win games and expect us to do it because we can’t. That’s clearly not the case at the moment.”
Luton, who were a Premier League club until the 2023/24 season, will face Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Trophy quarter-finals on Tuesday. They then travel to bottom club Port Vale next Saturday hoping to get promotion back on track.
