Barcelona presidential candidate Xavier Vilajoana claimed earlier this week that he has already been in contact with Harry Kane to discuss signing him from Bayern Munich.
Harry Kane has dismissed bombshell claims that he is already in talks to move to Barcelona. Barça’s next presidential candidate, Xavier Vilajoana, revealed this week that his party has already begun contact with England captain Kane to discuss a move in the summer transfer window.
Kane, 32, is entering the final 18 months of his contract with Bayern Munich, with his release clause reduced to £57m in January. However, for this clause to take effect this summer, the striker had to inform Bayern of his intention to leave by the end of last month.
Despite this, speculation surrounding a move to Barcelona continues to smolder. Barça are keeping an eye on the striker market ahead of Robert Lewandowski’s contract expiring in June.
Furthermore, Barcelona’s presidential election will be held in March, and although current president Joan Laporta is the favorite to continue, Vilajoana is doing his best to take over. But Mr. Kane poured cold water on his claims.

“I haven’t heard anything about it,” said the Bayern star. “My father and brother are doing everything, but I am not told anything. As I said, I am very happy here at Bayern. I am focused on this season and my time at Bayern. I take that as a compliment.”
Kane was speaking after scoring twice in Bayern’s 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, celebrating reaching 500 career goals before kick-off. The win moved Vincent Kompany to the top of the Bundesliga with eight points, following Borussia Dortmund’s 2-2 draw with RB Leipzig.
With the double goal, Kane maintained his momentum to break Lewandowski’s single-season Bundesliga goalscoring record. The former Tottenham ace, who has already scored 28 goals, needs to score a further 14 goals in Bayern’s remaining 11 league games if Lewandowski is to break Gerd Muller’s long-standing record of 40 goals set in 2021.

Bayern’s sporting director Christoph Freund recently admitted that the club is not “stressed” over Kane’s future, which has been in the spotlight. “He still has a year and a half left on his contract,” Freund explained.
“He feels very comfortable here. We are not stressed about it. He should stay as he is and continue to feel comfortable with his family in Munich. That way he can stay in Munich for a long time.”
