Manchester City beat Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium to cut the lead over Premier League leaders Arsenal to just two points, with the Spanish manager giving his verdict on the title race.
Manchester City manager Josep Guardiola said his team lacked title-winning experience despite narrowing the gap to leaders Arsenal to just two points. Nico O’Reilly’s brace helped City beat Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.
And Arsenal’s disappointing draw with bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers left City firmly in the corner. Mikel Arteta’s side have another chance to extend their lead in Sunday’s north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
Despite City’s current strong position, Guardiola suggested his side still lack experience when it comes to winning titles.
“It’s an incredible (win). Newcastle are an unbelievable team. A great team. Physicality and speed up front. It was really tough, but the team was unbelievable,” he told TNT Sport.

“Seventy percent of the players have never played in those conditions, and neither have I. We have to live with that situation. They know and we know that every game until the end of the season is going to be like this.”
“Especially after five games at home. Today we had the best crowd of the year. They were unbelievable. I’m really proud to be the manager of such a great fan base. We’ll now have three days’ rest and prepare for Leeds.”
City hero O’Reilly also delivered his verdict on the title on the night. “It’s my dream to get a win like this,” he told TNT Sports. “There are still a lot of games left. We have to take each game as it comes. I’m enjoying every moment and taking everything in.”

“Without a doubt (City can win the title). We always believe that we can win the game. We have had a week off so we have prepared very well for this game. We just have to keep going.”
City will be back in action next weekend with a trip to Leeds. Following Sunday’s north London derby, Arsenal will now turn their attention to next weekend’s decisive showdown with Chelsea.
