Tottenham manager Igor Tudor has admitted that he did not come to north London to have fun, but to get results as he wants to make an immediate impact on the club.
Tottenham’s new manager Igor Tudor has stressed his focus between now and the end of the season, admitting his early days as manager were not fun as he was “here to do the job”.
The Croatian has been recruited and tasked with steadying the ship over the coming months and will begin his tenure in Sunday’s North London derby. The atmosphere at and around Tottenham had become increasingly volatile in the final weeks of Thomas Frank’s tenure, leading up to his sacking.
They fought hard to win at home, and often faced jeers from the crowd. Although Tudor has only been appointed for a short period of time, he needs to settle down and improve his results quickly.
With just one win in 11 games, the club has fallen down the table and is now just five points behind the bottom three teams. Despite another difficult season this year, Tudor insists he is 100% confident Tottenham will be a Premier League club again next season.
He said, “I didn’t enjoy it (the first days) because I’m not here to have fun. I’m here to work. This is the first moment and I have a job to do. It’s an honor to be here.”

Tudor’s last job ended in October, when he was shown the way by Juventus after just 24 games. Having won the Champions League as a player before that, the Croatian had an excellent track record of making an immediate impact when taking on a new role that required him to do so in London.
The head coach himself could not give any insight as to how and why he was able to produce results so quickly. “I don’t know. I’m doing my job, nothing special,” he said. “I am doing what I believe is important, nothing more, nothing less. Each coach has his own style of achieving results. I have my own style that I believe is best. It is never the same because there are always different characteristics, different clubs and different cultures.”
“It’s not even about the league, it’s about the clubs. Some clubs like this kind of football, others like this kind of football. We need to solve the problems. If you go to the best clubs in the world, there are problems everywhere, but I believe there are no problems there, but like in the third division there are problems. It’s about how we solve the problems in the short term. It’s not easy, but we’ll be okay.”
Tottenham face Arsenal before making the short trip across London to Fulham. They will also face Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Nottingham Forest before the next international break.
