Crystal Palace fans chanted for Oliver Glasner to be sacked during the disappointing 1-1 draw with Bosnian side Zrinjski Mostar in the first leg of the Conference League play-offs.
Oliver Glasner could not hide his frustration after Crystal Palace lost to a 1-1 draw with Zrinjski Mostar, with fed-up supporters calling for his sacking. Glanser, who has already confirmed he will leave Palace at the end of the season, was targeted by fans who were traveling to Bosnia and Herzegovina for Thursday’s Conference League play-off first leg.
“We want Glasner sent off,” chants echoed through the fenced away section of Stadium Bjeli Brijeg. After taking the lead with Ismaila Sarr’s goal just before half-time, Palace players did not shout anything further to their supporters.
Mostar equalized in the second half and held on for a 1-1 draw, leaving the tie wide open as both teams aim to qualify for the last 16 at Selhurst Park next Thursday. After the final whistle, which improved their dreadful record in the last 15 games to just one win in all competitions, Glasner marched onto the pitch and reprimanded his players, who had been booed by the traveling fans during the match.
Speaking after the game, the Eagles manager thanked his team for the trip and said he knows his team will need supporters for the second leg, but they will need support more immediately when they host Wolves on Sunday. “Thank you very much for your support,” Glassner began.

“Great cheering from the stands. We hoped they enjoyed the trip, but now Wolves and Mostar are at home. It’s time to win more than just Brighton. That’s what we’re aiming for.”
Palace’s last home game was nothing short of a disaster. The Eagles raced ahead with a 2-0 lead over second-placed Burnley, but were trailing 3-2 at half-time.
Brighton’s win on February 8th was their first win in two months. Meanwhile, Glasner announced his impending departure, captain Marc Guéhi was sold to Manchester City and star striker Jean-Philippe Mateta pushed for a move to AC Milan, only to be found out with a knee injury.

Defender Chris Richards also told club media that Palace players had “heard” the voices of the Bosnian fans, adding: “Thank you again for coming. It hasn’t been an easy journey.
“I’ve seen and heard on Twitter how long it has taken us to get here so I’m really grateful to everyone. We’re a club but we’re also a family and we need everyone’s contribution when it comes to the game.”
“Again, we really feel your momentum and your spirit and hopefully we can continue that.”
