Wolves 2-2 Arsenal: The race for the Premier League title is in yet another twist as the Gunners surrender a two-goal lead and find themselves at the bottom of the table.
Uncertainty has hit Arsenal’s title challenge for the second week in a row. And blowing a two-goal lead over bottom-placed Wolves would sow doubts about whether Mikel Arteta’s side have what it takes to be champions.
Dropping two points against Brentford last week was bad enough, but this was even worse as Wolves are still in danger of becoming the worst team in Premier League history with record low points.
Arsenal don’t seem to be able to make life easy for themselves, but with this game they were just five points behind Josep Guardiola’s Manchester City, which really opened the door for Manchester City.
It shouldn’t have happened, as Bukayo Saka and Pierrot Hincapie gave Arsenal a 2-0 lead and they still managed to win.
Wolves did not give up and recovered a shot that could have turned the game around, leaving Arsenal distraught as the home fans yelled at them, “Two more, two more, oh my!” at the final whistle.

That was crazy because Arsenal should have been on cruise control. Within five minutes they were ahead and it had to be Saka. Indeed, it was written in the stars after the England star signed a new five-year contract.
Gabriel Martinelli won the ball and Declan Rice crossed for Saka, who fired a superb header that hit Wolves keeper Jose Sá in the legs.
Saka celebrated by pretending to sign a piece of paper celebrating his new £300,000-a-week contract, which will keep him at the Emirates until 2031. The early finish completely changed the mood at Molineux, with many empty seats in the home section and any hope of survival long gone.
Rice came close to scoring a second goal with a shot that went just wide, and Sa’s shot from Noni Maduke was tipped over by Gabriel Martinelli, who was unable to capitalize on the rebound. It really felt like the early goal would spur Arsenal to score more and end the game. But they have developed a lazy habit of not finishing the game.

With Madueke, Martinelli and Victor Gokeres not performing well, Arsenal’s front three produced little, allowing Wolves to gradually work their way back into contention. Wolves’ Brazilian midfielder Andre took a low shot that went wide of the far post. The home fans chanted, “There was a shot, there was a shot.”
It was one-sided, but Arsenal always looked like they were going to be a little nervous as the rain turned to sleet on a dirty night in the Midlands, although it remained 1-0. Arsenal finally got their second goal in the 56th minute when Gabriel passed the ball to Hincapie, who ran through and fired a shot past Wolves keeper Sa.
The goal survived a lengthy VAR check, but as Hincapie was onside the offside flag was overruled and his first goal for Arsenal was allowed.
But Arsenal’s comfort blanket didn’t last long. Five minutes later, Wolves were back in the game. Arsenal were sloppy, losing the ball to Gabriel and giving Wolves maximum advantage.
Hugo Bueno received a pass from Santiago Bueno, cut in from the right, switched to his left foot and fired a sensational left-footed shot into the top corner of the goal.
To make matters worse, there was a disastrous mix-up in Arsenal’s defence. Arsenal keeper David Raya spilled the ball after colliding with Gabriel, and Tom Edsi’s shot hit Riccardo Calafioli and split over the line for a dramatic equalizer.
