Pundits claim Arsenal have the best squad but they need to prove it on the pitch, with manager Mikel Arteta needing to fully rotate his squad between now and May.

Mikel Arteta will only be able to boast of having the best team if Arsenal wins the Premier League title this season. And to truly prove that beyond a shadow of a doubt, Arsenal, who are currently looking for four trophies, will likely need to achieve multiple trophies.

However, Arsenal’s squad will be put to a tough test over the next three months as they chase the title, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

A number of injuries are currently creeping in, with Arteta leaving Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz out of the squad for Wolves, and Mikel Merino missing much of the season after undergoing surgery on a broken foot.

That’s no surprise if the games are intense every three days. But it’s also about managing demands and rotating the squad, and that’s up to Arteta.

What an opportunity for some of these players to become legends, write their names in the history books and end Arsenal’s 22-year title wait.

Winning the Quadruple is extremely difficult – virtually impossible – but Arsenal have won the doubles title three times in the past – in 1971, 1998 and 2002 – and the players from those teams have etched their names into the club’s lore.

But only if this team fulfills its potential and promise can it be evaluated alongside teams from a different era.

And only if Arsenal achieves results this season, their team can be rated as the best. It is no exaggeration to say that it is the most profound. It is no exaggeration to say that it has the highest quality.

But the best team wins the title. This team is not just about 20 great players. It’s about winning mechanics, mentality and chemistry.

Sometimes it’s about the unsung heroes and people who have a big influence in the dressing room. But it’s very much about belief, mentality and experience.

That’s what still sets Manchester City apart. They have a team full of proven winners, which is why they still have arguably the best team.

With last season’s title win behind them, I felt that this might be Liverpool, who went through an unusual transfer business. But even after bringing in the likes of Hugo Ekitike, Alexander Isak and Florian Wirths, there is no denying that they currently have the best squad.

It’s all about proving it on the pitch. Arsenal have great options in every position. Great backup. When they brought in Pierrot Hincapie on the edge of the frame, some people wondered if they really needed him. He definitely proved his worth.

Martin Zvimendi has proven to be one of the signings this season. Eberechi Eze was a big signing, but the season was a stop-start. Cristian Mosquera and Christian Norgaard were small signings but played good roles at different times.

Noni Maduke was a bit inconsistent, but was a strong addition overall and provided a very strong back-up for Bukayo Saka.

As the game progresses, Arteta will need his players to step up. If there is one flaw in Arteta’s squad, it must be in team management.

Last year, Arsenal were hit by injuries at the wrong time, which derailed their season. Liverpool manager Arne Slott has talked about reducing the amount of training he has done, keeping his players fit and putting in great performances in the lead-up to the title.

This is a huge lesson for this generation of Arsenal players. Another big week is about to begin. First a trip to Wolves and then the North London derby.

They must maintain their nerves and prove that they are the strongest team. Because no one can say they have the best team until they win. This honor goes to champions for good reason.
