Manchester United and Barcelona have negotiated a full transfer fee for Marcus Rashford on loan to Spain in the summer, but United remain adamant about their deal.

Manchester United will not accept an offer for Marcus Rashford that is less than the 30 million euros (approximately 2.62 billion yen) he agreed with Barcelona before his loan move last summer.

The 28-year-old English attacker fell out of favor under former United manager Ruben Amorim and has made his dream move to Camp Nou after months of speculation in the transfer window. The deal included an option to make the transfer permanent for a fee of between €30 million and €35 million (approximately £30.5 million).

Rashford has impressed in Spain since putting pen to paper and is keen to continue playing for Barça beyond this season. He has continued to perform well, scoring 10 goals, but there are speculations that the Spanish giants may try to negotiate a lower transfer fee than they previously agreed for the forward.

Unfortunately for them, ESPN reported that Manchester United are “reluctant” to accept a lower figure and expect a pre-agreed sum to be paid if Barcelona want to sign Rashford permanently.

It remains to be seen whether that attitude will complicate things for Rashford this summer, and despite the fact that Amorim was sacked last month, a return to Old Trafford remains unlikely.

Ironically, Rashford enjoyed his most prolific season while United head coach Michael Carrick was working at United as part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s coaching team for the remainder of the season.

The paper notes that United’s sentiments towards Rashford remain unchanged, with his permanent departure still being considered.

Despite speculation that Barcelona could seek to renegotiate the terms of a permanent transfer, the club’s sporting director Deco has already made it clear he wants Rashford to remain at Camp Nou.

Asked if Barca wanted to keep Rashford long-term, he told SPORT: “Yes, that’s right. I don’t think it was easy to get here. He has played at a very high level at a club like Manchester United, with huge demands.”

“Then he spent six months at Aston Villa and did a very good job there. In fact, Aston Villa, if it was possible they would have kept him. I know that because I have spoken to the people there. But he just wanted to come to Barça. That is a very positive thing.”
