Dominik Szoboszlai has been one of Liverpool’s best players this season and his national team coach has hinted that he could one day consider a move to Real Madrid.
The Hungarian national team head coach has claimed that Dominik Szoboszlai has always “dreamed” of playing for Real Madrid, amid speculation of a new move for the Liverpool midfielder.
Szoboszlai, 25, has been one of the Reds’ most influential players since joining from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023 and was a key cog in Arne Slott’s intrepid team that won the Premier League title last season.
The midfielder, who has played an excellent role as a right-back this season, has previously been touted as a future target for Real Madrid.
And now Szoboszlai’s national team manager Marco Rossi seems to have revealed that his star man grew up always wanting to represent Los Blancos at some point in his career.

“Real Madrid has always been a dream of his, as Dominik Szoboszlai and I have had a very close and direct relationship ever since we started playing football as children,” Rossi said, according to Marca newspaper.
“I don’t know if he can take that step because the decision is up to him and it’s up to his club.”
While Rossi was quick to express his admiration for Szoboszlai at Real Madrid, he hinted that the player could still choose to extend his contract with Liverpool, adding: “I would definitely not rule out the possibility of him staying at Liverpool and renewing his contract there, especially since he is highly regarded within the club.”
Szoboszlai is under contract at Anfield until 2028, which would put the Premier League champions in a strong negotiating position if Real Madrid were to make a move for him.
Despite playing out of position at times this season, Szoboszlai has been arguably Liverpool’s best and most consistent player, with nine goals and seven assists. No wonder, then, that his manager waxed lyrical about him ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup match against Brighton.
“Szoboszlai, I can’t help but talk about his qualities. It’s ridiculous,” Slott said.
“His work rate on and off the ball, another level, his intensity, his pressing, his incredible technique, his insight into the game, his qualities as an attacking midfielder, right-back, right-winger, in all these positions, he was essential for us this season and last season, and he will continue to be for us.”
