PARIS (AP) – Marseille’s chaotic week continued as they conceded an equalizing goal in stoppage time in a 2-2 home draw against Strasbourg on Saturday.

Marseille were up 2-0 after Amin Gouiri scored one goal and converted another. However, Marseille’s weak defense gave way and striker Joaquín Panichelli saved a point with a penalty in the 97th minute.

“Once again we conceded a goal late on and in the end we wasted everything,” Goiri said. “When things happen dozens of times, it’s not the coach’s (tactical) choices, it’s our problem on the field.”

Lens then needed a win against struggling Paris FC to regain top spot from Paris Saint-Germain, who they defeated on Friday.

Marseille players were upset Roberto de Zerbi leaves the club Wednesday, a few days after the humiliating incident. 5-0 loss At PSG.

The atmosphere at the Stade Velodrome was tense.

Both stands behind the goal were empty except for angry banners. The banner bluntly urged American owner Frank McCourt and president Pablo Longoria to leave, with the words: “Your whole project is a waste! You’ve wasted years.”

Nine-time French champions Marseille have not won a trophy since the now-defunct League Cup in 2012.

Fans gathered on Saturday and booed the players on the field.

Goiri set up Mason Greenwood’s league-leading 14th goal of the season in the 14th minute. He controlled the ball cleanly near the penalty with the outside of his foot, played a pass behind the defense, and Greenwood clipped the ball.

Gouiri once again showed great technique, curling Marseille’s second goal in the 47th minute after picking up a clearing error by goalkeeper Mike Penders and attempting to pass out without touching the ball.

Sebastian Nanashi scored in the 74th minute and Marseille defender Emerson Palmieri clumsily gifted a penalty.

In Saturday’s other match, Lille hosted Brest.
