Tottenham Hotspur are looking for a new manager following the sacking of Thomas Frank, with former striker Robbie Keane among the candidates for the north London manager.
Robbie Keane ended his interview after being asked about the possibility of taking the Tottenham Hotspur job. The former Spurs striker appears to be one of the candidates to take over the reins of the north London club following the sacking of Thomas Frank.
Former managers Mauricio Pochettino and Roberto De Zerbi are also said to be involved in his appointment. Keane will certainly be an interesting addition given his coaching career to date.
He began his post-playing career with ATK before being appointed assistant at Republic of Ireland, Middlesbrough and Leeds United. Keane was handed the reins at Maccabi Tel Aviv ahead of joining Hungarian side Ferencvaros, who won the league title.
When asked if he expected an approach from Spurs, he replied, “I can’t help but speculate,” and quickly ended the interview.
Meanwhile, Keane also confirmed his stance on his future, insisting he is not actively looking for a role in the Premier League. He told Hungarian newspaper Nemzeti Sport this week: “I would never dream of such a thing.

“After playing the most there, people back home expect me to work for England. That doesn’t work out for me. Am I looking for an opportunity to sign for England? No. Do I want to be Liverpool manager? No. If they want me to do that, we can talk about it.”
“I feel great in Ferencvaros. I can’t think of a better situation right now. I’m lucky because I don’t need money. I earned a living while I was a player. I’m not doing it to get money at the end of the month. I’m motivated by something completely different.”
Keane has been backed for the job by former Spurs star Michael Dawson. After Frank left the club, the former defender said: “Going back to the game against West Ham, they lost 2-1 with a late goal, so in my opinion it was inevitable. That was the point where I thought, ‘Will they change?’ And it’s clear they didn’t want to do that.

“Looking back at last night’s performance, they had a meeting, they made a decision and now they have to make a big decision about who is going to play.
“I hear everyone talking about being a substitute. I don’t know, I don’t know if he’ll be a substitute or not. If that happens, I think there’s only one manager waiting for us in the summer.”
“For me, there is someone who is about to emerge. Someone who knows the football club very well, who plays for the club with passion, who loves the club, who motivates everyone and leads them in the right direction. That to me is Robbie Keane.”
