Nottingham Forest have begun their search for a fourth manager of the season after Sean Dyche was sacked just hours after Wednesday night’s draw with Wolves.
Nottingham Forest have reportedly named former Wolves manager Vitor Pereira as a potential replacement for the sacked Sean Dyche. The Midlands side confirmed the former Burnley and Everton head coach had been transferred in the early hours of Thursday morning.
His resignation came just hours after the team were booed after a 0-0 draw with bottom club Wolves at the City Ground. A statement released on social media read: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as head coach.
“We would like to thank Sean and his staff for their hard work during their time at the club and wish them the best of luck in the future. We will not be making any further comment at this time.”
Dyche’s sacking means Forest will begin their search for a fourth boss of the season after a crazy season at the City Ground. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked in September and replaced by Ange Postecoglou, but the former Spurs manager was sacked after failing to win a game in just 39 days.

Dyche was appointed as his replacement, but with Forest in danger of relegation from the Premier League, owner Evangelos Marinakis opted for a new replacement. According to The Athletic, former Wolves manager Pereira has been named as a “strong candidate” to replace him.
The Portuguese manager has been out of work since leaving Molineux in November. Pereira managed to keep Wolves in good form last season, but this season they failed to win their opening 10 games, while his work in the transfer market has also been criticized.
The 57-year-old already knows Forest manager Marinakis, having previously worked with other Greek club Olympiakos, where he led them to a league and cup double. Pereira has also been linked with a vacancy at Forest’s midlands rivals Leicester City, who are looking for a successor to Marti Sifuentes.

Pereira also had periods of mixed success in a storied career with Porto, Fenerbahce, Flamengo and many others. Should he arrive at the City Ground, he will be tasked with maintaining Forest’s place in the Premier League.
Following the stalemate with Pereira’s former club Wolves, they sit in 17th place, three points behind West Ham United. They will be back in action next week as they take on another former employer of Fenerbahce in the Europa League play-offs, ahead of a home game against reigning Premier League champions Liverpool.
Forest won promotion under Steve Cooper and have been in the Premier League since 2022. They finished their first two seasons in 16th and 17th place, but secured their place in European football with an eye-catching seventh place finish.
