Tottenham have announced the resignation of under-performing manager Thomas Frank, with the Danish manager being sacked less than eight months after taking over.
Tottenham have admitted that due to results and performances, they had no choice but to sack Thomas Frank. The Danish player was appointed by Spurs less than eight months ago following the sacking of manager Ange Postecoglou.
And decision-makers at Premier League clubs are desperate to stick to their plans after chops and substitutions in the dugout in recent years. However, his departure was confirmed after the team’s recent defeat against Newcastle left them dangerously close to slipping down the table.
In a statement, the club said: “The club has taken the decision to change the position of men’s head coach, with Thomas Frank retiring today.
“Thomas was appointed in June 2025 and we have been determined to give him the time and support he needs to build a future together. However, the results and performances have led the board to conclude that changes are necessary at this point in the season.”

“Thomas has shown unwavering dedication throughout his time at the club and has done everything he can to move the club forward. We would like to thank him for his contribution and wish him every success in the future.”
Frank was brought to the club after undergoing a transformation at London’s neighbors Brentford. He took over the Spurs team after a disastrous domestic season under Postecoglou, but that season ended with them winning the Europa League.
This meant that the Australian’s departure would be a hugely controversial decision, with the new chief having to immediately win over some doubters.
However, they have been unable to find any consistency in the Premier League and Tuesday’s home game against Newcastle left them 16th, just five points behind the bottom three.

Frank leaves the club with seven wins, eight draws and 11 losses in the Premier League, scoring just 1.12 points per game, the lowest ever for a Spurs manager in the Premier League.
He performed well in the Champions League, leading Spurs to the last 16. However, it was not enough to save him as he was also eliminated in the domestic cup competition.
Tottenham’s senior management accepted that Frank had been treated incredibly badly and that many of his struggles could be forgiven. The Spurs are facing a chronic injury crisis, with 12 players on the sideline, many of whom would be automatic starters.
Apart from the arrival of Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid, there was no support for him in January either. This contract is about adding leadership within the group, which is another area where bosses know they are lacking.
But regardless, Spurs are forced to sit out their next game, a north London derby against rivals Arsenal, with almost two weeks to go.
Frank was confident he would be in charge of that game when he spoke Tuesday night. He said that after speaking with the club’s owners in the past 24 hours, he was satisfied that he was still considered suitable for the job.
All eyes will now be on finding his successor, with bookmakers saying early favorites include Roberto De Zerbi and former manager Mauricio Pochettino.
