“It felt good to score and get the three points,” Palmer said after a tough season plagued by groin problems.
Asked if he was fully fit, he added: “I haven’t thought about it yet. People don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes, but it’s not ideal to be injured all season and not be able to perform as well as I would like and still be dealing with an injury.”
“I know what level I can offer when I feel 100%, so I hope I can control the injury well and heal quickly.”
Palmer continued: “Not being fully fit is not ideal but I still feel I can contribute to the team, but once I’m back to full fitness I feel I can go to a higher level.”

Since Liam Rosenior replaced Enzo Maresca at the turn of the year, Chelsea have won four straight Premier League games. Palmer praised the influence of Stamford Bridge’s new head coach, saying he has given his players more freedom and hopes for further development.
He explained: “Life under Liam has been great. He gives us all the confidence to be ourselves, playing freely. I’m sure we’ll see the best of me if I get the right fit.”
Palmer changed his trademark celebratory mood and appeared to cover his ears, a rebuke to this season’s critics and a sign that a summer move to Manchester United could be in the cards.
“Everyone loves to chat, right?” he observed. “I don’t pay attention to it. You see things, and I come from a strong place anyway, but I don’t pay attention to it.”
“Unstoppable” – Rosenior excited about Palmer
Chelsea manager Rosenior praised his team, singling out Palmer in particular and declaring him “unstoppable”.
“We changed the system a little for the first time, but the players put it into practice in the first half and had a great performance,” he said.
“Some of the way we played – obviously Cole scored three goals – but some of our football was everything I wanted to see.

“Cole is part of that and we know what a world-class player he is. He’s played a lot of football this past year without much of a break, but when he’s at his best he’s unstoppable. We’re happy to be working with him.”
“When Cole is fully fit, giving his all and feeling good, he is a great footballer. When you are at a club like this one where there are great demands and scrutiny, which I am starting to learn myself, you have to cut out the noise and remember how good a player you are.
“I love working with him, he loves being here and hopefully from now until the end of the season he really enjoys his football because it helps us on the pitch.”
