Robin van Persie could become Manchester United manager at some stage in his managerial career, claims Dutch legend Ruud Gullit
Ruud Gullit believes Robin van Persie is good enough to manage Manchester United in the future. United have appointed Michael Carrick as interim manager until the end of the season.
Club owners, including Sir Jim Ratcliffe, will aim to make a full-time appointment in the summer. Carrick is one of the favorites to win the title, having won his first three games since taking over.
Carlo Ancelotti, Thomas Tuchel and Luis Enrique are also being considered. However, Dutch legend Gullit believes Van Persie would be a suitable candidate to manage his old club at some stage in the future.
Gullit told Gambling Insider: “It would be great if Robin van Persie managed Manchester United in the future. I definitely hope that happens one day! Robin is a great manager, but he’s having a bit of a hard time at Feyenoord at the moment.”

“I feel the expectations are very high for him because of his career and he is in the spotlight much more than any other manager in the Eredivisie.
“He’s facing criticism at the moment here in the Netherlands, but I hope he rectifies that and gives him time to prove how good he is. Look at what happened to Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United. They kept him and look how good a player he ended up becoming!”
“But in the future, I think it would be great for Robin to manage at Old Trafford one day.”
Van Persie joined United from Arsenal in a surprising deal in 2012.
He scored 48 goals in just 86 league games and helped United win the Premier League in 2013, which was their last title since Fergie retired.
