Martin Zvimendi was linked with a move to Real Madrid before joining Arsenal in the summer, but the midfielder does not believe he can solve his problems at the Bernabéu
Martin Zvimendi has rejected suggestions that he could solve Real Madrid’s problems by staying at the Bernabéu after the Spanish side missed out on the chance to sign him in the summer.
The Spanish star continued to impress at Real Sociedad, but ultimately left the club to join Arsenal, who spent £60 million to sign him. Zvimendi quickly proved to be a big hit at the Emirates, with the Gunners leading the way in the Premier League.
Real, on the other hand, are in a mixed bag despite trying to qualify for La Liga and the Champions League, but with problems in their game plan and style. They were closely linked with Zvimendi but ultimately did not pursue the 27-year-old.
Some experts claim that Zvimendi is the type of midfielder who can calmly dictate play and would be a perfect fit for Los Blancos given their problems, but he doesn’t think so.
“I don’t think so. Real Madrid have more than enough players who can do well, so no,” he told Cadena SER radio.

Zvimendi has adapted well to English football, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 33 appearances for the Gunners. He admits the Premier League has more demands on him, having spent his entire career in his home country at clubs where he had not previously been expected to win the honour.
“When you’re playing and feeling like you matter, it’s really comforting,” he said. “It’s true that I adapted well to the league, but I realized that the games were very demanding, everyone was under pressure and the level was very high.”
Zubimendi was part of the summer recruitment drive, with the likes of Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze also arriving at the Emirates. This gives Mikel Arteta a huge resource as he looks to end Arsenal’s league title wait and also claim some of the other accolades available.
Arsenal beat Chelsea on Tuesday night to reach the Carabao Cup final and Zvimendi said: “We have taken the first steps but we are aware that we have a very important three months ahead of us.”
The North Londoner holds a six-point lead over Manchester City in the title race, but the Spaniard insisted: “The position is great, but we’ll see who wins.”
