Wayne Rooney has no sympathy for Alexander Isaac, who has seen his British record for transfers to Liverpool turn into a living nightmare since going on strike at Newcastle to force a move to Anfield.
Wayne Rooney has told Alexander Isaac that he has only himself to blame for his British record-setting move to Liverpool being a fiasco. Isaac has endured a nightmare since leaving Newcastle to join the English champions in a £125m deal. “I want to create history and win trophies” at Anfield, the Swedish striker said.
But all he did was struggle to earn a place in Arne Slott’s side. Isak started just six league games and played in 16 competitive games, scoring three goals. To make matters worse, Isaac has never been fully fit and is currently sidelined with a broken ankle, which has kept him sidelined since December.
But rather than pity the 26-year-old, Rooney believes Isak’s decision to go on strike at Newcastle to force a move to Liverpool is starting to catch up with him.

The England and Manchester United legend said on the Wayne Rooney Show: “I think it’s his own fault. You know, he didn’t train at Newcastle. There’s no harm in asking about leaving Newcastle to go to Liverpool. Logically, probably nine out of 10 Newcastle players would do that now.”
“But I think with the way he did it and not training with the team, he made himself scarce without even having a pre-season and then he got his first injury.
“I know the second (injury) was due to a tackle, but I don’t think he hasn’t been fit for the game since he came to Liverpool.
“We always talk about the mental side of the game, but when you play for a big club there’s a lot of pressure and he knows that. Newcastle are a big club and their fan base is big too. You can imagine with the passion of the Newcastle fans that it’s a difficult team to play.”
“So he must have known that and expected it. But his Liverpool career hasn’t started yet.”
