Arsenal now hold a six-point lead over Manchester City after Josep Guardiola’s side dropped points against Tottenham, and Jamie Redknapp believes the title race is over.
Jamie Redknapp believes the title race is over after Manchester City dropped points yet again in a bid to get Arsenal and Mikel Arteta back.
Josep Guardiola’s side entered the game with a two-goal advantage at half-time against Tottenham, thanks to strikers Rayan Cherki and Antoine Semenho. However, City collapsed in the second half, with Dominic Solanke scoring twice to give Spurs a share of the spoils.
This damaging second half, combined with Arsenal’s 4-0 thrashing of Leeds 24 hours earlier, means City are now six points clear of the Gunners, enough for Redknapp to win the title.

Redknapp told Sky Sports: “Mikel Arteta would have watched the two games at home this afternoon and thought, ‘I think Villa are going to beat Brentford’, but they didn’t. Then he would have looked at this second half and thought, ‘5-0’. He’s going to open a nice bottle of Rioja tonight.”
“This is it. I think this is the title for Arsenal and I think they can continue to win by eight or 10 points. I would be surprised if they don’t win.”
“They got the players…I think they were a little nervous, and the crowd…the connection between them. The manager was a little nervous and I think that transferred to the players. But I think they’re starting to relax a little bit now. I’d be surprised if they didn’t go on like this now and easily win this title.”
Redknapp has urged Arteta to crack open the wine early and toast the title, but the Spaniard is unlikely to do so.
Guardiola also said after the game, not in the tone of a manager who believed the title was beyond his team’s limits: “Overall we played a very good game. In the 70th minute they put more balls in behind, they put more players there, they added more players in the middle to make a more direct attack.”
“They scored a goal, we know what happened and they had the momentum after that. That’s what the Premier League is like, they had the momentum again at the end.
“It’s a setback, but we’re still there. We’re moving forward. We’ve got 14 games to go and a lot of points. We’ll see.”
