Leicester City are looking for a new manager after the Foxes decided to sack Marti Cifuentes, who has struggled in their first year back in the Championship.
Leicester City have been in contact with former promotion-winning manager Enzo Maresca about a surprise return to the King Power Stadium.
The Italian, who led the Foxes to the Premier League in his only season in charge, was sacked by Chelsea on New Year’s Day after a tumultuous 18 months at Stamford Bridge.
Leicester have appointed Andy King as interim manager after sacking Marti Sifuentes, but they hope Maresca will take over on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
They know the 45-year-old is highly respected, has been linked with the Tottenham job and has an influential following at Manchester City should manager Josep Guardiola decide to end his trophy reign.

That’s why Leicester haven’t been looking for a successful manager since the summer to make his mark in the 2023-24 season, but despite his success and being named the Championship’s Manager of the Month four times, he hasn’t always been on the side of Foxes fans.
Leicester are hoping for a positive response from Maresca, who has not ruled out a late challenge for a promotion play-off spot.
With Italy and Italian clubs eyeing the much-admired manager, a lucrative incentive-based package has been put in front of the Italian player, with the knowledge that he will not commit beyond the summer.
King took charge of the Foxes for the first time on Saturday but could not hit the ground running as the team lost at home to Charlton.
