The future of Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is once again the subject of hot debate, but Michael Carrick is relaxed about the situation and believes it will be dealt with in due course.
Manager Michael Carrick has insisted Manchester United will wait until June to decide on the departure of captain Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese midfielder is considering his next move and will likely be flooded with offers from other clubs at the end of the season.
Fernandes is disillusioned with the way the club is being run and the change in manager. He came close to leaving United last summer, but rejected the chance to join the Saudi Professional League.
Fernandes has been impressed with the impact Carrick has had as interim manager, but will now wait to see who the next permanent manager will be and whether United return to the Champions League.
The 31-year-old knows his next contract will be the last major contract of his career, and he knows he needs to make money. For United to have any chance of keeping Fernandes, they will need to offer him a new and improved contract worth around £400,000-a-week. His current contract runs until 2027 and has a buyout clause of £60 million.

Carrick insists Fernandes is still happy and fully committed to United at the moment, but that his future will be discussed near the end of the campaign. He said, “We all want to win. We all want to get better. We all want to improve as a team.”
“We want to be successful and we have to work towards that together, but Bruno has been great since I’ve been here. He was great when he was here before, so I can only say good things about him.
“It’s not about going too far. It’s a bit on the agenda (for his future) but my main agenda is to get through the game against Fulham on Sunday.”
“Bruno is working hard, there are no problems at all.
“Anything further down the line will probably be dealt with towards the end of the season or something. But everything is positive at the moment.”
