Manchester United have been heavily linked with a summer move for Cole Palmer, with suggestions the England international could be open to a move to Old Trafford.
Manchester United will not sign Cole Palmer this summer. United bosses are aware the England and Chelsea star is out of the club’s price range.
However, attacking midfielders are not on the club’s priority list when it comes to strengthening their squad. United have invested around £135m in signing Matheus Cunha and Brian Mbeumo and believe this is not an area of focus for the team.
Meanwhile, United may decide to spend whatever it takes to keep Bruno Fernandes on an extended contract. It is understood that co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has discussed potential targets with CEO Omar Berrada.
And the pair are tasked with bringing in a world-class defensive midfielder to replace the departing Casemiro. United’s players to watch include Adam Wharton, Elliott Anderson and Carlos Baleva, but they are mindful of the trio’s potential valuations.

Palmer has returned to Manchester and is rumored to be linked with joining United. Reports say he is not comfortable in London and wants to ensure he returns to the North West.
However, Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior insists there is no chance of Palmer being sold. Palmer signed a nine-year contract when he joined Chelsea in 2024, meaning his contract will run until 2023.
Rosenior said earlier this week: “There’s no reason to guarantee it. It’s so unrealistic. It came out of nowhere. There’s no substance. There’s no reason to have a conversation. That’s my position.”
“Cole is very happy. I’ve talked to him a lot. What we’re thinking about is how can we make this team better, how can he improve and how can I help him.”

“He loves being here and he wants to be a Chelsea player. You can’t stop speculation, but some speculation is far from the truth. There’s no point in discussing it.”
United would need to shell out around £100m and offer wages of around £250,000-a-week to sign the 23-year-old.
United’s ability to win Champions League football is also in doubt, weakening their ability to lure targets to Old Trafford.
The deal would not make financial sense for United, who intend to sell Marcus Rashford to Barcelona this summer for a reduced fee of £25 million.
