Manchester United have been linked with a move for Cole Palmer in recent days and could oust the modern-day Red Devils icon if his move to Old Trafford is completed.
Cole Palmer has left Manchester United on red alert, leaving his future at Chelsea in doubt. The England playmaker is reportedly unable to settle in west London two-and-a-half years after arriving from Manchester City.
Since then, he has been one of the Premier League’s star performers and is sure to attract the attention of clubs in England’s top flight. At the top of the list is United, who could still make a sensational move as the playmaker.
Palmer supported the Red Devils as a boy and will be open to making a successful move to Old Trafford. Even better news for United is that it has been suggested that he is not even considering a return to Manchester City.
And while Chelsea are likely to resist any approach from their Premier League rivals for Palmer, there is no doubt he would be a big player for United. Here’s how they might line up if they lock up his services.

Let’s start exactly where Palmer would be. It would not be far-fetched to suggest that he could be a direct successor to Bruno Fernandes.
The Portuguese midfielder will consider his future at Old Trafford after the World Cup and his departure would not be a surprise as he has long-standing interest from Saudi Arabia. Of course that would hurt United, but signing Palmer could help alleviate some of that pain.
Chelsea’s current star could be surrounded by a number of reinforcements, as he has spent a lot of time attacking in the recent summer transfer window. Benjamin Sesko will lead the line in front of him, flanked by Brian Mbeumo and weekend match winner Matheus Cunha.

If he moves to midfield, he could potentially sign an even bigger contract. The Red Devils bosses have named a number of candidates, with Brighton’s Carlos Baleva leading the charge.
He will line up alongside academy graduate Koby Mainu, who has returned to the team under new manager Michael Carrick. It now appears he intends to remain at Old Trafford.
Moving on to the defense, it may look very familiar. Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire seem to be the club’s favorite pairing at the moment, while Matthijs de Ligt looks likely to return once he is fit.
As for the full-backs, Diogo Dalot is likely to take the right-back spot, with Patrick Dorg finally looking to live up to the Manchester United players’ expectations.
Senne Ramens only signed for the Red Devils in the summer and is expected to be the club’s number one goalkeeper for some time.
Manchester Utd XI shortlist: Lamence. Dorg, Martinez, De Ligt, Dalot. Mainu, Baleba. Mbeumo, Palmer, Cunha. Sesco.
