Joshua Zirkzee looked set to remain at Manchester United following Michael Carrick’s appointment, but his future has taken a new twist as Juventus remain interested in him.
Italian giants Juventus have renewed their interest in Manchester United’s Joshua Zirkzee, who is yet to feature under manager Michael Carrick. The Dutchman has a long-standing following in Serie A, with Roma previously keen to sign him early in the January transfer window.
However, the move stalled with the decision to sack Ruben Amorim and the appointment of Carrick. United’s current manager met with the Dutchman and convinced him that his future lies at Old Trafford.
This meant Roma moved on to other targets, acquiring Donyell Malen from Aston Villa and Robinio Vaz from Marseille. A move to the Italian capital may not materialize for Zirksee, but rivals Juventus could be an option.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Turin have resumed negotiations with United regarding Zirkzee after failing in their bid to sign Fenerbahce striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

Sporting director Giorgio Chiellini said: “The situation is pretty clear” about Juventus’ failure to sign En-Nesyri. “We went to speak to the player and he expressed some doubts about the transfer scheme. So for us the negotiations are over at the moment. We cannot and do not want to acquire him completely.”
“We’ll see over the next few days if there are any developments or other opportunities, but for us it’s over.”
Zirksee joined Man United from Bologna in 2024 but has since scored just nine goals in 65 appearances. He missed coach Michael Carrick’s first two games due to injury.

Manchester United star Matheus Cunha is among those encouraging Zirksee to remain at Old Trafford. “I’m very happy for Josh. I feel he has a lot of qualities. Of course his situation is not easy, but he has everything to change the situation. We need him. He needs to understand that and then everyone will be able to trust him.”
“But yeah, we’re here to push him. And after last week’s goal and today’s assist, I think he feels more confident to be with us more and understand his role more in the team.”
Zirksee is not the only Premier League star that Juventus are keeping an eye on. Liverpool winger Federico Chiesa is also a target of the Italian giants ahead of next week’s deadline.
