Bayern Munich suffered their first Bundesliga defeat of the season against Augsburg, but Augsburg celebrated their victory while mocking Harry Kane, who finished the game without scoring.
Harry Kane was ridiculed on social media after Augsburg ended their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga with a shock 2-1 win over Bayern Munich.
The Bavarian team continues to fight relentlessly this season and is looking to win another title in Germany. Until Saturday, they had lost just once all season, against Arsenal in the Champions League, but had to endure a domestic defeat for the first time.
Vincent Kompany’s side took the lead at the Allianz Arena, but faced a shocking comeback. Augsburg, who are in danger of being relegated, recorded a famous victory as Arthur Chaves and Han Noah Massengo scored twice in the last six minutes of the second half.
Kane has failed to add to his tally this season, but Augsburg were more than happy to stick a knife into social media, producing a fake text exchange mocking the striker for “not showing up”.
Victory in Augsburg moved Bayern into 13th place, and although Bayern suffered a rare loss, they remain eight points behind Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund.

Kompany said after the defeat: “This result is dedicated to those who always knew that the Bundesliga is not easy and that every game involves risks. We were stable in the first half, but there was not much creativity.”
He went on to say, “It was a game that can be described as such. We played five games in 13 days, and today we may have gotten the result without showing our best. I’m more disappointed in the result than in the performance. We were in a good position, but we lost our form. In the second half, we didn’t have the same energy as in previous games. Congratulations to Augsburg. This is part of football. The important thing now is to react.”
Kane has been prolific since joining Munich from Tottenham, scoring 34 goals in 30 games this season and is on track to break Germany’s single-season record.
His blank on Saturday came after he scored in midweek when the German champions saw off Belgian side Union Saint Giroise in the Champions League. Kane’s first goal made him the first Englishman to reach the 70-goal mark in a UEFA competition, and the seventh player to reach 70 goals in the history of European club football.
