Matheus Cunha’s stunning late goal saw Manchester United beat title-chasing Arsenal, extending Michael Carrick’s perfect start to life at Old Trafford.

Arsenal took the lead in the 30th minute when Lisandro Martinez deflected Martin Odegaard’s shot into his own net. United equalized before the break with Brian Mbeumo scoring after a brutal error from Martin Zvimendi.

The Red Devils then completed the comeback with a brilliant strike from Patrick Dawg. However, Mikel Merino struck home from yet another corner and Arsenal looked set to seal the point.

However, United still had one more game to play and Cunha’s long-range shot secured a dramatic victory. Here are the talking points about Emirates Stadium:

Gunner takes the lead

It was a relatively quiet start for Emirates, with both teams struggling to create chances within the first 30 minutes. That was until Lisandro Martinez scored an own goal to give his team the lead.

It wasn’t a very pretty goal, as the Red Devils struggled to deal with over-hit crosses. Bukayo Saka then darted past Martin Odegaard and charged towards goal.

However, his shot hit Martinez’s heel and ultimately beat Lamence. It may not have been the most eye-catching goal, but anything helps in a title race. Arteta will then be furious that his team couldn’t hold on.

Mbeumo scores again

Mbeumo, who scored in the last game against Manchester City, was in great form against Arsenal and United needed to take their chances. And he certainly had his eyes on the Emirates when he picked off Martin Zvimendi’s terrible backpass and slotted it past David Raya to equalize.

For the Cameroonian, this was a notable strike for a number of reasons. It was his eighth league goal of the season since joining from Brentford in the summer, and his 50th in the Premier League in total.

Dorgu’s Dynamite

Mbeumo has been one of United’s standout performers this season, but the same could be said for Patrick Dorg. The defender has been active again at the Emirates after scoring important goals against Newcastle and Man City in recent weeks.

Following a smart exchange with Fernandes, the left-back fired a superb shot that went over the crossbar and into the Arsenal net. A brief VAR check was conducted for a possible handball, but in the end the goal was awarded.

Dorg has certainly been a critic at Old Trafford since his arrival, but now it looks like he is finally living up to expectations as a Manchester United player. It’s very unfortunate that he had to leave at the end due to injury.

Late drama rocks Emirates

Arsenal found themselves in a predicament towards the end. And they needed a rescue operation. It’s a good job to have people who can provide that.

Mikel Merino, who has played as an emergency striker in the past, was brought on and seemed to have scored just before crossing the line.

However, fellow substitute Matheus Cunha was not going to let that happen. The Brazilian picked up the ball 25 yards from goal and smashed a cracker past Raya, leaving the Arsenal goalkeeper and the rest of the Emirates Stadium on the floor.

Carrick continues to do well

There was considerable skepticism when Carrick was appointed manager of Manchester United. After all, this was a man who had recently been sacked by Championship side Middlesbrough.

But every time he steps into the United dugout, something seems to click. He is currently unbeaten against Mikel Arteta, Josep Guardiola and Thomas Tuchel, with two games unbeaten in five matches.

Plans remain for Mr Carrick to step down in the summer, but he is making an excellent case for being given the job on a term basis. They are now dignified, determined and have real quality. And it’s all thanks to the former midfielder.
