Burnley 2-2 Tottenham: Thomas Frank watched his Spurs side score a dramatic late equalizer at Turf Moor, but it wasn’t enough to satisfy the away supporters.
There was barely a flicker on Thomas Frank’s face when Cristian Romero’s sensational header beat Martin Dubravka. He knows his late equalizer at Turf Moor is not a moment the Spurs manager should be celebrating.
But, hopefully, he later expressed his gratitude to Romero for making the investigation into the results a little less painful. Still, Frank left the field after hearing a fan tell him he could be fired soon.
In fact, the anti-Frank sentiment from Spurs supporters could be heard from the first whistle, and they frequently serenaded him with the lyrics: “Aside, behind, wherever you go.”
And, to be fair to the accusers, their claims seemed very legitimate, as their side spent half an hour or so playing a version of the rondo that seemed to have little offensive purpose.
But to be fair, they were even more intent on that, with excitable Burnley keeper Dubravka still celebrating two decent saves when a missed clearance allowed Micky van de Ven to pull in a fine finish.

The breakthrough should have been decisive, given that Burnley were not within shouting distance of Vicario at that point, but this is not Tottenham’s decisive team.
And while Kyle Walker’s assist was uncharacteristically delicate, the defenders had little excuse for Axel Tuanzebe’s equalizing volley.
The Spurs switched off after a deserved first shot, allowing even a limited team like Scott Parker to take advantage.
And Spurs’ response wasn’t exactly impressive. They are honest, this is actually a Burnley exclusive outfit, but they felt lazy in the visitor’s approach.

It’s either laziness or just a little nervousness that makes people hesitant to take risks, try killer passes, or play against their opponents.
Burnley weren’t better, but Spurs’ was largely unimaginative and unadventurous. And if the team is unimaginative and unadventurous, the manager has to take most of the blame.
The bottom line is that Spurs aren’t a particularly appealing team to watch, a team that has a ton of possession without threatening to do anything creative.
It was a huge encouragement to all opponents and it was really no surprise that Lyle Foster put the home side ahead after Vicario kicked the Burnley substitute’s first-time shot straight back.
There were exceptions, and Jed Spence was one of them. And he gave Matthijs Tell a decent chance, but Dubravka made another good stop.
Another shining exception was Romero. Say what you will about his lack of discipline, but he is a captain who is dedicated to the cause and his equalizer from Wilson Odbert’s cross was a spectacular header as you can see.
That didn’t stop Spurs fans from telling Frank his football was “shit” and that he might not be able to keep his job. However, Frank still had a great deal of gratitude for his captain. It would be really embarrassing if we lost here.
But judging by the reaction from the traveling supporters, it will take more than the captain’s intervention to keep Frank at Tottenham Hotspur.
