Everton face being without Jack Grealish for much of the remainder of the Premier League season
Manager David Moyes fears Jack Grealish may require surgery until Everton learn the full extent of the severity of his foot fracture.
The 30-year-old is currently being seen by a specialist over a stress fracture problem that was revealed this week but has been plaguing the Everton loanee for some time.
Moyes spoke publicly for the first time on Friday about the loss of one of his star players and could not hide his disappointment. And while the Toffees manager was reluctant to speculate on how long the England international would be without the England international, he admitted it was a significant setback.

Moyes said: “It’s not for me to give away the schedule. It’s not yet known from the doctors, but he has a stress fracture in his foot. That’s all I can say. He’s been very important to us since the beginning of the season and has played a big role in the team, so this is a big blow.”
Moyes said he would discuss whether surgery was required pending details of the issue, which emerged after Everton’s impressive win against Aston Villa on Sunday. Grealish played the full game with an influential and mature display against his boyhood club.
Grealish suffered a calf injury at Villa Park, but after speaking to medical staff it was revealed he was feeling pain in one leg. Moyes said: “He’s been feeling it for a few weeks. He’s a kid who doesn’t want to get injured and he wants to play every game. He’s a kid who doesn’t want to get injured.”
“He injured his calf in the game (at Villa) and got kicked in front of the bench. He came in for treatment on Monday. We did some tests and then he went to see the surgeon for another test. That was it. When I asked him, he said he had been feeling the pain for a while, he was just feeling it.”
Moyes admitted that supporters would be as frustrated as he was about the situation, adding: “It’s really disappointing for him. He’s back, enjoying himself and doing what he does best. He’s got great support from the Everton supporters. They care about him so much that it’s a shame he’s going to be out for a while. He’s given us something different.”
“We have to give him credit for that.”
