Manchester United were linked with a surprise loan move for Ruben Loftus-Cheek earlier this week, but Aston Villa are now sniffing around the former Chelsea midfielder.

Aston Villa are said to have made an inquiry to Ruben Loftus-Cheek days after the former Chelsea midfielder was ‘offered’ to Manchester United.
Loftus-Cheek, 29, is no stranger to Premier League teams after coming through the academy ranks at Stamford Bridge, making more than 150 appearances in the top flight during his time at the Blues and on loan at Crystal Palace and Fulham. The midfielder was recalled to the England squad by manager Thomas Tuchel in September last year and will join AC Milan in the summer of 2023.
Loftus-Cheek has gone on to make more than 90 appearances for the Italian giants, but Villa are said to be considering a move to sign Loftus-Cheek, who could be loaned out this month after falling down the table at the San Siro.

The Athletic reports that Boubacar Camara has suffered a serious knee injury and the Frenchman is likely to be sidelined for the rest of the season, so they could look to bring in another midfielder on loan, including Loftus-Cheek.
Villa had courted Loftus-Cheek’s former Chelsea teammate Conor Gallagher earlier this month, but Tottenham have signed the England star from Atletico Madrid on a permanent deal. Signing Loftus-Cheek would provide immediate support for the injured Kamara, who has Premier League pedigree.

Villa Park’s recent developments could have a knock-on effect on Manchester United, who are also thought to be looking to bring in midfield reinforcements through the loan market.
TalkSPORT claimed earlier this week that United had been “offered” the chance to sign Loftus-Cheek on loan, but it is unclear whether the Red Devils would be interested in striking out such a deal.
Negotiations have been described as “exploratory” but Villa’s interest could force a decision if United want to strengthen their squad with Loftus-Cheek, who is said to be keen to return to the Premier League.
Manchester United are expected to focus on overhauling their midfield in the summer, with a new permanent head coach set to be named after signing Michael Carrick until the end of the season.
