Lisandro Martinez has made sharp comments about Paul Scholes after Manchester United’s Manchester derby win in response to pre-match comments from pundits.
Nicky Butt was furious at Paul Scholes’ comments before the Manchester derby and told Lisandro Martinez to “make more noise”. “(Erling) Haaland will score and then he’ll throw him (Martinez) into the goal,” Scholes said.
Butt added: “At school, Haaland would pick up Martinez and run with him if he saw a father running down the street with a small toddler.” However, the striker failed to score and United kept a clean sheet at Old Trafford, with Josep Guardiola replacing the talisman in the 80th minute.
Martinez spoke about Scholes’ comments after the Manchester derby. He replied, “Honestly, he can say whatever he wants.

“I have already told him, if he wants to say something to me, come anywhere, come to my house or anywhere, I don’t care. And for me, I think I respect the relationship when you want to help the club because everyone can talk on TV, but if you meet (them) here face to face, no one will say anything to your face.

“So for me, I don’t really care what they say. I’m just focused on my performance and the team’s performance and I’ll give everything to this club until the last day.”
Scholes later responded on Instagram: “Someone had a good game. Really happy for you.” Regarding the public invitation to his home, the critic added, “Tea without sugar, please.”
Butt and Scholes discussed Martinez’s comments in detail on their podcast, The Good, The Bad & The Football. Batt said: “For me, we’re a podcast and we talk like three lads having a conversation in a pub. We’re not doing game commentary on Sky.
“It’s a joke and it’s clear that Haaland is not going to pick him up and run with him. That’s clear. It’s a metaphor.”
“If someone’s upset about something someone said about them in the media or on a podcast, I think they should just basically say whatever they want to say, come over to my house, and be a fucking adult.
“If you literally get so emotional about someone saying something and you come out and react like that, you shouldn’t be a big football club, because what I’m saying now is he’s going to go through that for the rest of his career at Manchester United.”
“There have been ups and downs, there have been some bad times when I played for Man United and Newcastle, but next week I will be praised and applauded. There are no personal problems with Martinez and we. Nothing.”
