Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank’s position has been called into question after supporters attacked the beleaguered Danes during Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to West Ham.
Thomas Frank could be given a reprieve by Tottenham Hotspur bosses, in part due to the lack of players to replace him midway through the season.
The 52-year-old Dane has only been in charge as Spurs’ head coach for just under seven months after an impressive spell at Brentford. However, Frank has found the move difficult and has failed to gain the support of supporters, with some supporters chanting for Frank to be sacked during Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to West Ham.
Frank’s future has been in the spotlight following this fan backlash, and discussions about his future are expected to take place over the weekend. And a new report argues that the lack of realistic alternatives is part of the “dilemma” in considering what action to take next.

According to The Times, Tottenham’s top brass are discussing potential replacements for Frank, with the team struggling under him. There is still a chance he will feature in Tuesday night’s Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the former Brentford manager is completely confident.
The report goes on to note that interim appointments have not been very successful in the past. Considering the current situation at the club, anything could happen. Ryan Mason’s two attempts as interim manager have been underwhelming, and the other former interim manager, Christian Stellini, has struggled in the hot seat.
If Frank is sacked, former Everton defender and Liverpool manager John Heitinga could take over temporarily. However, the former Ajax manager only joined the club last week to help Frank.
In terms of a complete replacement, summer is more likely. Among the players named, Xabi Alonso is thought to be keen on the idea of returning to the Premier League as head coach, but has no intention of returning to management immediately after leaving Real Madrid earlier this month.
Mauricio Pochettino’s romantic return will also be complicated by his commitment to the United States for this summer’s home World Cup, while Andoni Iraola is contracted to Bournemouth until the summer and is likely to be released from that commitment.
If Tottenham sack Frank and make the wrong personnel, there is a good chance they could move closer to the relegation zone. They currently sit 14th in the Premier League, 10 points above West Ham.
