Sadio Mane was spotted celebrating Senegal’s Africa Cup of Nations victory with his wife, who is 13 years his junior. The former Liverpool winger secured his second continental title with the Teranga Lions on Sunday night, defeating Morocco in the final. After the game ended in regular time, Pape Gueye scored the winning goal in extra time.
Morocco were awarded a controversial penalty towards the end of the match, sparking outrage from Senegal’s players. In response, coach Pape Tiao protested the decision and ordered his team to leave the stadium. The match was delayed for nearly 20 minutes until Mane rushed into the dressing room and persuaded his teammates to return.
Moroccan forward Brahim Dias eventually stepped up to take the decisive spot-kick, but was humiliated when his attempted chip was easily recovered by Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
This failure proved to be costly for Morocco, and in extra time, Gueye found the top corner of the net with a stunning effort that put them back on the ropes. It was the winning goal and Mane and his teammates had the last laugh at the final whistle.
The couple welcomed their first child together last year, 14 months after their wedding, with a daughter born in March. She was also taken to the dressing room by Tanba at the post-final celebration on Sunday.
Her father previously revealed that he first met Mane when he was 16 and that they did not date before getting married.
Amadou Tamba said: “One day, my wife and Aisha visited (Mr. Manet’s) family. That’s where he met Mr. Manet for the first time. Maybe he saw something special in Mr. Manet. His parents also spoke highly of Mr. Manet.”
“They came to see me. According to tradition, we talked, agreed on everything and waited for this day to come. They were not dating, because Aisha was still young.”
Mane has said he is open to expanding his family further and could have more children soon.
In an interview with Senepeopleplus, when asked about the number of children he would like, he replied: “It’s an interesting question. If it were just a choice, I would say three or four. Other than that, it’s God who decides and I will thank God no matter what.”
When asked if she would consider starting an even bigger family with six or seven children, Mane said, “Maybe we’ll never know.”
