Tottenham fans called for manager Thomas Frank to be sacked after the club’s 2-1 home defeat to London neighbors West Ham.
Thomas Frank insisted the result would change because Tottenham fans called for his sacking. The out-of-form Dane went into Saturday’s game against West Ham looking for a win to allay speculation about his future.
However, Callum Wilson’s stoppage-time goal gave the Hammers a valuable 2-1 victory in the relegation battle. However, it was another miserable afternoon for the furious home support workers, with many shouting that they would be fired in the morning. ”
But Frank, who has seen his team winless in their first five games of 2026, is adamant his players are close to a strong performance and that will have the same effect on the mood of the fans.
“If we win, (fan reaction) will change, and so will we. I still think (an improvement in the situation) is closer than far away,” he said.
“Right now we seem to be in a perfect storm. When you lose at the last minute and you feel like you’ve given everything, including the fans, and you get hit hard, it’s incredibly tough for them, the players and me. I can promise you it’s extremely tough for me too.”

As for the chant itself, he continued, “Of course there have been better times, and of course it may not have been the best of times. But I know, I’m in charge. So, I’m responsible. That’s fair, and in that sense it’s okay.”
“As long as they support the players and do everything they can to support them and move them forward, that’s what we do and we keep moving forward.”
The Hammers took the lead early on with Crisencio Somerville’s goal, before Cristian Romero equalized in the second half. However, as Spurs looked to win, they were dealt a nasty punch after Wilson scored from a corner kick.
Spurs looked stunned when they heard the final whistle after their crushing defeat, and manager Frank admitted that there was no problem with the dedication of his players.
Frank added: “If you’re building a good culture and developing people who can get through tough times, you need to see teams operate, especially during tough times.” You’re looking at teams that are fighting through tough conditions.
“We also see a team that is doing everything they can to turn this situation around, and I think you can see that in pretty good performances, even in very tough conditions.”
Spurs captain Romero said the defeat was a disaster but appealed to fans to stick together through a difficult patch that has seen them drop to 14th in the Premier League.
“In this moment, we need to be together, work hard and be back on the practice field tomorrow. This moment is a disaster for us,” Romero explained.
“Thank you to the fans who have always been with us. Tomorrow we will train in silence and work hard again. We have another big match in the middle of the week. At the moment this is a disaster for us.”
