Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has been a key figure for the Reds since joining in 2017, but with just five months remaining on his contract he may not sign a new contract.
Andy Robertson admits he is unsure whether he will be able to play for Liverpool next season, despite contract talks with Anfield bosses.
The 31-year-old Scotland international defender will become a free agent in the summer, but there is no guarantee that the left-back, who signed for Liverpool almost nine years ago, will be able to complete a decade of service on Merseyside. Robertson has started just four Premier League games this season following the arrival of Milos Kerkes in the summer.
However, Robertson has said he wants to remain at Anfield, but the former Hull City man insists he wants to play regularly. Asked if he wanted to remain in the Liverpool squad, Robertson replied: “Yes, but it’s a difficult question.” “We have five months left and we need to figure out whether we have an option to stay or if we have an option to leave.

“After a stressful summer, I’m just trying to enjoy being part of it and being a Liverpool player.
“I wanted to qualify for the World Cup and thankfully I was able to achieve that. I have to figure out what I want for myself and my family.
“I have to sit down with my family and decide. No one can deny what I have given to this club. We will see what happens.”
Kerkes was signed from Bournemouth in the summer as Robertson’s long-term successor for £40m, but the Hungarian international has failed to reproduce the scintillating form that attracted the champions’ attention in his red shirt.
However, he remains Liverpool’s first-choice left-back and Robertson’s desire to play regularly could force him to consider other options, leaving Arne Slott with a potential headache.
“I can focus on the last eight-and-a-half years. I think Jurgen Klopp was furious because he didn’t play me in one game, so I’m a player who wants to play,” he added when asked how much game time would influence his decision.
“I’ve played through injuries. I’ve played when I wasn’t 100% healthy. For this club and my country, I’ve played when I was only 50/40/30% healthy. I always want to play on grass, but obviously I’m not able to do that right now. That’s the difference.”
“This season I have a different role here and I’m enjoying it, but at the end of the day, footballers want to play and if you see someone sitting happy on the bench, they don’t belong at any football club.”
