Chelsea appointed Liam Rosenior as Enzo Maresca’s replacement earlier this month, but he was given a warning ahead of his first Premier League game in charge of the Blues.
Liam Rosenior is said to be aiming to qualify for the Champions League at the end of the season. The 41-year-old was appointed as Enzo Maresca’s replacement earlier this month after an impressive spell with Strasbourg.
He led the Blues to a 5-1 victory over Charlton Athletic and enjoyed a dream start to life in west London. But it looks like it will be a testing week for Rosenior and the Blues.
Chelsea face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, before facing in-form Brentford in the Premier League at the weekend. There is no doubt that manager Rosenior expects Chelsea to do well in the first-tier league, where they sit in eighth place.
Former player and coach Jody Morris says he needs to secure Champions League qualification between now and the end of the season or his position could be under threat.
Speaking to AceOdds.com, he said: “In terms of expectations, I don’t think they should be any different than they were at the beginning of the season. They have to look to achieve Champions League football and try to go deep in the competition.

“I’m not the type of person to think we’re going to win something every year, but the fact that they won the trophy last season puts us in a position to compete.
“I think they need to do better than what they’re doing now, that’s why they changed managers. After watching the first game, I don’t think there’s a big difference between what Enzo Maresca was playing and what Liam Rosenior wants to do.”
“I don’t think expectations should change and I think he will continue on the same path. We should look at Champions League football and build on what they did last season, because they haven’t really done it this season. That’s probably one of the biggest disappointments.”

“I think Liam Rosenier has the same expectations. He has already expressed how excited he is to work with such talented players.”
Rossenyol surprisingly signed a six-and-a-half year contract to become Chelsea’s newest manager. That means he will remain at Stamford Bridge until 2032.
After this weekend’s game against Brentford, Rosenior will turn his attention to the club’s Champions League campaign. The West Londoners are outside of the automatic qualification spots for the round of 16 ahead of next week’s match against Cypriot side Paphos.
