The draw for the fourth round of the FA Cup has concluded, with some interesting draws confirmed for the next round to be held in mid-February. The weekend’s third round fixtures featured a big surprise as holders Crystal Palace were sent off by non-league side Macclesfield and Wrexham sent off Premier League side Nottingham Forest on penalties.
The reward for a historic win for sixth-tier Macclesfield is another top-flight opponent, Brentford. Wrexham host fellow Championship side Ipswich Town at their Racecourse Ground. Liverpool do not have a place in the next stage and must first beat Barnsley at Anfield tonight. If the Reds win, they will host Brighton, who defeated Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
After defeating struggling sides Portsmouth in the Championship, 14-time FA Cup winners Arsenal will host League One side Wigan Athletic. Meanwhile, new Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior will lead the Blues back to his old club Hull City. Manchester City could host Gary Neville’s Salford City, who beat the same side 8-0 in Round 3 12 months ago. The League Two side must first get past Swindon Town, who play in the same division, on January 20th.
