Man UTD draw with Burnley in Fletcher’s first game

Darren Fletcher’s side drew 2-2 with Burnley on Wednesday in their first match since the departure of former Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim.

With United trailing, Benjamin Sesco scored twice to score his third and fourth league goals of the season, and Jadon Anthony hit back with a stunner.

Burnley took the lead when Bashir Humphries’ cross unfortunately deflected off Aiden Haven and looped over the head of a helpless Senne Ramens.

The Clarets held the lead until half-time thanks to some fine clearances from the last line from both Humphries and the returning Maxime Esteve.

But it didn’t take long for United to equalize when Bruno Fernandes’ delicate through ball found Sesco, who slotted home past Martin Dubravka from the edge of the six-yard box.

Just 10 minutes later, Sesco scored a goal after taking Patrick Dorg’s cross with a cushioned side-footed volley past the goalkeeper.

But Burnley refused to admit defeat and their best chance was yet to come, with Anthony firing in a stunning shot from the edge of the box to stop United from moving into fourth place.

It was United’s third draw after draws with bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers, 16th-placed Leeds United and Burnley, who are currently 19th.
