‘It doesn’t matter’ – Amorim says Mainu will not be punished for his brother’s T-shirt message

“I think everyone thought we were the better team today but we were unlucky,” Amorim told Sky Sports.
“Even with Bruno (Fernandes)’s injury, we were a better team without Bruno during the game.
“The transition was one-on-one the whole time, so no one will remember it tomorrow because what matters is the result, but I think we did a very good job.
“We knew Aston Villa were going to play with everyone inside, so we had to add to that situation. We’ve trained that way and tried different options. I think we’re improving because you can use a different starting eleven in every game. Again, I think we deserved it today.”
Amorim reveals that Fernandes is refraining from playing in the match
The only saving grace for Amorim may be United’s fixture list, which includes Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley and Leeds United over the next three weeks.
The former Sporting manager recently gave midfielder Jack Fletcher and wide player Shea Lacey their senior debuts at Villa Park after criticizing academy players Harry Amass and Toby Collier (both on loan) and Chido Obi.
With 19-year-old Aiden Haven already starting in defence, Amorim may need to bring in more youngsters given the “soft tissue” injury to Fernandes.

“We’ll see what we do,” Amorim said at a news conference. “I think Koby Mainu will be out and Bruno will be out as well, so we’ll see.
“We will find a solution. There can be no excuses. We need to win the next game and we will try to win the next game too.”
Amorim added that United’s recent injury problems will not cause them to panic when the January transfer window reopens.
“What we can’t do is get into January and try to do everything in a hurry and make a mistake, and then have a bunch of mistakes and go, ‘Here we go again.'”
“I’m not going to go with Jason and Omar and say, ‘We need a lot of players,’ because we have a plan.
“If we suffer, the club comes first. Of course we are in a period where we need points, but we need to find a solution and we will continue with our plan.”
“You’ll feel in this moment that we’re going to struggle, but we’ll see. We’ve got to deal with it.”
