Liverpool now recognize there is “no chance” of securing Michael Oliseh as Mohamed Salah’s successor. Bayern Munich are reportedly looking to secure a valuable asset on an enhanced contract, potentially ruining the Reds’ chances of signing a new attacking option in January.
The winter transfer window has suddenly become extremely important for Liverpool given Salah’s possible departure. The 33-year-old Egyptian has expressed that he felt “thrown under the bus” by the club, while his relationship with manager Arne Slott appears to have completely deteriorated.
After spending nearly half a billion pounds in the summer transfer window, the Merseyside giants could be back in the market for attacking reinforcements. But former Crystal Palace ace Olise, currently plying his trade at Bavaria, appears to be out of reach.
The 24-year-old moved to Germany in 2024 and has since made 78 appearances, scoring 29 goals and providing 37 assists. German newspaper Bild’s head of football Christian Falk said Bayern were “not afraid” of losing him to Liverpool, as his existing contract runs until 2029.
He insists it is completely “impossible” that any team would prioritize Olise as the German powerhouse prepares an upgraded contract proposal. Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl reinforced this stance against BILD this week.
He said: “No one has to worry about Michael. He has a very good performance-based contract and, I stress this again, there is no release clause.”
Eberl also admitted that Bayern have no interest in Salah if he leaves Liverpool in the next transfer window. Instead, Saudi Arabian clubs have been linked with signing the Egyptian star.
In a further setback for Liverpool, Bayern will reportedly closely monitor developments regarding Antoine Semenyo at Bournemouth in the coming weeks. The Ghanaian has been linked with Liverpool and several other major Premier League clubs, and now the German top club has been added to the list of potential suitors.
