A notorious football hooligan who changed his life after winning the EuroMillions jackpot has revealed what he thinks is England’s toughest company. Daniel Wright, who racked up three football banning orders during his troubled days, once wreaked havoc on the Bradford City company known as The Ointment. His violent career culminated in a six-year prison sentence.
However, he is now recognized as the lucky investor who pocketed £1 million through British Millionaire Makers in April 2022. That large windfall enabled him to buy a new house and splurge on a luxury Rolex watch worth £40,000. Despite his reformed lifestyle in the Durham market town of Yarm, the 41-year-old recently reflected on his hooligan days.
When asked about the most terrifying football mob he had ever faced, he declared, “The best company I’ve ever seen is Manchester United in Bradford.
“Anyone who says Manchester United is not a good company is talking complete crap. There are just a huge number of them.”
Speaking on the podcast Anything Goes with James English, Daniel continued: “Speaking of those early pranksters, they were the best in the country for a long time. That might have been their peak. They were really good back then. Really good.”
He also claimed that he once mobilized 600 supporters in preparation for street clashes.
Asked if their numerical strength made them superior, he admitted: “Definitely, who else could score 600 points?”
Daniel claimed that The Ointment were the most fearsome and unpredictable, and admitted other opponents had come close to matching United’s notoriety.
He said: “My top five would probably be Man United, Tottenham, Millwall and Birmingham in no particular order.”
After a short pause, he continued, “Middlesborough, Sheffield United, Leeds, Aston Villa, those are the teams I would probably play there too.”
Highlighting Leeds in particular, he later said: “In my day Leeds always won, but I’ve seen Leeds on their day, like the England-Turkey game at the Stadium of Light.
“That company in Leeds that I saw that day was an absolutely incredible company. They were a top company at the time, there’s no denying that.”
