MANCHESTER UNITED are preparing to give jungle champions Angry Ginge a heroic welcome at Old Trafford following their win on ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ The Red Devils are reportedly “ready to roll out the red carpet” by inviting the reality show winner to the Theater of Dreams for their next game. The social media sensation and content creator owes his fame to his passionate support of United, coining his signature cry, ‘Yanited!’ As his following expanded.
The Salford-born jungle champion, whose real name is Morgan Birtwistle, beat EastEnders star Shona McGarty and presenter Tom Reid-Wilson in the I’m A Celeb finale. According to Mail Sport, United are keen to collaborate with Zindge, who returned to Manchester on Monday, and have extended an invitation to play at home.
The club would like to offer him the opportunity to celebrate his reality TV victory at Old Trafford. The 24-year-old didn’t expect it to last this long in the Australian wilderness and admitted he almost left shortly after arriving.
He revealed: “The first day we were discussing it, we had only been there for a few hours. It was late when we came in and we were expecting steaks, but we only got one steak for the four of us, so we were shocked.
“That was an eye-opener. Forget about the snakes around your head. And it was getting later and later and the other campers hadn’t joined us yet, so I was just sitting there thinking, ‘This is going to be a big deal. This is going to be a really big deal.'”
United face a backlash after Angry Zindge’s friend and world number one darts Luke Littler was spotted in the away end of the game against Wolves on Monday night. Littler’s decision to receive free tickets sparked outrage as clubs tighten restrictions on sharing season ticket holder allocations with others.
According to The Mail, demand for tickets often exceeds inventory by a 4-to-1 ratio. United fans will also need to hold season tickets for at least four years before being eligible to sign up for away matches. Littler does not meet these requirements.
Kit sponsor Adidas is believed to have provided free tickets to Littler and his friends. The 18-year-old world darts champion requested “3 tickets” on Instagram less than 24 hours before kick-off. “I’m willing to pay more than face value,” he added.
He wrote after the game: “Great night watching the boys win away. Big win. Thank you @addias for the tickets.”
