Real Madrid suffered a 2-0 home defeat to Celta Vigo on Sunday, with England star Jude Bellingham suffering a serious injury, but it was his team who were shown two red cards.
Jude Bellingham was left bloodied and seething after Celta Vigo’s shock 2-0 win over struggling Real Madrid. Bellingham’s side were left stunned at the Bernabéu, with Fran García and Alvaro Carreras shown red cards and finishing the game with nine men.
The unexpected loss leaves Real four points behind LaLiga leaders Barcelona, and the pressure is increasing on coach Xabi Alonso, who has won just one of his last five league games. Meanwhile, Bellingham is licking the scar he suffered from a nasty cut above his right eye during the loss.
After Real lost 1-0, the England international was involved in an elbow strike and was forced to leave the pitch with blood pouring down his face. Quite literally, to add insult to injury, Bellingham was shown a yellow card for returning to the field without the referee’s permission.
Before Bellingham could get back on track, Garcia was ejected for two fouls in one minute. Carreras was then shown a red card, which he contested, as the Whites failed to make a comeback and with full-time on the line looming.
Celta striker Williot Swedberg quickly scored his second goal of the game in stoppage time, capping off a memorable night for the visitors. Alonso must now pick up his players for Wednesday’s Champions League home game against Manchester City.

This game could be the last for Real, who only took over as manager in June. According to reports, the Bernabéu bosses are already discussing his future and could be handed the ax soon.
“We’re all angry. It wasn’t the game or the result we wanted,” Alonso lamented on Sunday. “(Eder) Militão’s injury hurt us from the beginning and it was difficult to recover.
“We have adjusted things. The game did not go as we wanted. We have to turn the page as soon as possible. We only have three points. There is still a lot left in La Liga.

“We have the Champions League on Wednesday to get rid of this bad taste. It wasn’t what we expected. We went into the game trying to play in a good rhythm and press a good opponent, but things were lacking.”
Alonso will need a star player like Bellingham to perform Wednesday night. Real have had a better time playing in Europe this season, winning four of their opening five matches and putting themselves on the brink of securing a spot in the knockout stages.
