England have decided their opponents for next summer’s World Cup, with the Three Lions facing Croatia, Panama and Ghana in the group stages. Friday’s draw kickstarted preparations for the tournament in the United States, where Thomas Tuchel’s side are considered favorites.
England have decided on their group for the prestigious tournament and also now know their route to the final, to be played at MetLife Stadium on July 19th. The World Cup begins on June 11th, with the Three Lions’ first match against Croatia on June 17th.
England know that if all four teams win in their groups, they will not be able to play the other top seeds Argentina or Spain until the semi-finals, and France until the final.
Speaking ahead of Friday’s draw, the former Chelsea manager said: “Everyone knows we can’t promise to win, but they want to see a team, a team spirit, a team that gives everything and fights for each other.
“I think anything is possible if the players bring it to us. We’ll be brave enough to dream it, we’ll be brave enough to go for it.”
“I feel a change in expectations and a change in feedback from fans and people I meet who liked what they saw. Do I feel more confident now? Yes, because we’ve gotten better. We have to arrive and try to make something special happen, but we can’t guarantee that.”
