Liverpool are in ‘advanced transfer talks’ as Saudi Arabia ready to pay Mohamed Salah transfer fee | Soccer | Sports

Liverpool’s difficult start to the season has raised many questions regarding transfer negotiations in recent months. The Merseyside giants spent millions over the summer, making record-breaking signings and overhauling their defense and attack.

Manager Arne Slott is still searching for the perfect formula and has suggested further signings may be needed to turn the club’s fortunes around. By signing a central defender or forward and arranging an exit, Liverpool appear to be preparing for a busy January transfer window. With this in mind, let’s take a look at Liverpool’s latest transfer speculation ahead of the winter window…

Liverpool begin negotiations to sign Yann Diomande

Liverpool have established “very advanced” dialogue with representatives of RB Leipzig sensation Yann Diomande, Sky Sports Switzerland reports.

The 19-year-old only turned professional earlier this year, joining Leganes on a free transfer, and has enjoyed an impressive rise through the ranks of European football.

He moved to Leipzig in the summer and immediately showed results, scoring four goals and providing four assists in all competitions in Germany.

Liverpool reportedly see the Ivorian international as a candidate to help rebuild their attacking department, but he faces competition from other Premier League clubs who have also inquired about a possible move.

Tottenham are also reportedly interested in the player, but formal negotiations between Leipzig and potential suitors have not yet begun.

Saudi Arabia is ready to pay for Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool is once again in doubt, with rumors of a move to Saudi Arabia emerging.

Despite signing a new contract in April that will keep him at Anfield until 2027, his difficult start to the season and his recent departure from the Liverpool squad have reignited speculation about his possible departure.

The Telegraph reports that the Saudi Professional League could fund a move if the 33-year-old chooses to leave his current club.

This is despite the recent spending cuts following last season’s heavy spending, with the idea persisting that there may still be enough money to lure Salah to the league.

Nico Schlotterbeck is not on Liverpool’s list

Liverpool’s attention is likely to be focused on the centre-back market this January due to a lack of options in this area. The Reds have made moves to sign a number of players, including Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck, whose contract runs until 2027 and could prove to be a valuable acquisition.

However, BILD reports that the German defender is not a priority for Liverpool at the moment and they have decided not to make a bid at this time.

It remains to be seen who will be the priority in defense, but there has been interest in Marc Gehi for some time and his contract expires in 2026, making him a likely candidate.

Schlotterbeck could be back in Liverpool’s sights if no other options materialize.
