Mo Salah could join seven clubs in January after Liverpool signaled star player could leave

Mohamed Salah’s position at Liverpool has come under scrutiny after he was left out of manager Arne Slott’s starting XI for the last two games as the Reds struggle in the Premier League.

Mohamed Salah’s Liverpool career could come to an end as early as January, according to Jamie Redknapp. The Egyptian superstar won’t be content to sit on the bench at Anfield if the right club comes along, says the former Reds midfielder.

Things haven’t been going well for Salah this season, and despite signing a new contract last season, he only has 18 months left on his contract. However, as he started on the bench in the last two Premier League games, it seems possible that he could leave the club suddenly.

“He’s a great Premier League player, a great Liverpool player, so I don’t think this situation will end well,” he told Sky Sports. “It’s going to be a difficult situation for the manager right now, given that he has very good and important people in the team in and around the dressing room and how they react and behave during training.

“I would be surprised if he saw out the remaining two years of his contract, or the year and a half. I don’t think this would solve the situation one bit. Nothing in football would surprise me – whether it’s in January or maybe in the summer.”

“If the right club comes along…a lot will be determined by this guy. He’s earned that right. And if he says, ‘Look, if I’m not going to be a starter, I’m not one of those players to hang around. I’ll go wherever I need to go.’ I think he still wants to play in Europe.

“The first thing we all say is he’s going to go to Saudi Arabia – he’s obviously a legend in that region – or does he want to go to the US, but for me this is the real breaking point in the relationship right now.

“He’s going to be disappointed, and like you say, he’s even going to be blamed for what’s going on. But while the team is winning without him…I looked at those stats, and when he’s not playing, he’s doing pretty well.”

So who can provide Salah with the right opportunities? AFCON will be held in December and January before financing the move.

Regardless of Mr Redknapp’s claims, January would be a surprise, but perhaps things could be sorted out in the summer. Mirror Football will consider several options.

According to ESPN, Al Hilal are still keeping a “firm eye” on Salah, and Al Qadsiah have also inquired about a possible move. Salah and Liverpool have so far turned down approaches from the Middle East, but it remains a region where they can afford to strike a deal.

Salah will definitely become a star in the league and will be paid a lot of money. The Saudi Professional League is still widely seen as a place where players can end their careers, but Cristiano Ronaldo will only be a face for a while.

Major League Soccer has proven to be flexible when it comes to bringing superstars into the league. It may be difficult to raise the transfer fee, but they succeeded in acquiring Lionel Messi.

And San Diego, a relative newcomer to the league, appears to be the frontrunner. The club, which has an Egyptian owner, will be placed ahead of Chicago, Miami and LAFC in the pecking order for Salah, according to reports.

Redknapp has suggested that Salah may want to remain in Europe. The veteran had previously requested trades to Fiorentina and Roma, but that could be an emotional option.

Galatasaray have been linked with a move in January and have been dealing with troubled relationships in the past. They brought in Victor Osimhen on loan from Napoli, following a previous request.

Looking at the summer, maybe Barcelona will get a chance. They have previously had success with the aging Robert Lewandowski and could find space for him as his contract nears expiration. A decision has yet to be made on Marcus Rashford’s future, so perhaps Salah could swoop in if Barca can afford it.
