Despite signing a new contract with the Reds in the summer, fresh questions have arisen over Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool, with the Saudi club looking set to make another move.
The Saudi club are already planning a sensational move for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward signed a new contract with the Reds in the summer until 2027.
However, with Arne Slott on the bench for Liverpool’s last two games, fresh questions have been raised over Salah’s future at Anfield. As a result, former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp has suggested that Salah could leave the club if the situation does not improve.
Of course, any move would have to wait until the January transfer window, but clubs have already started rumors about the forward. There have always been whispers about Saudi Arabia and it appears the Middle Eastern club is already putting potential plans into action.
According to the Telegraph, the Saudi Pro League is in a position to finance Salah’s move if he expresses a desire to leave Liverpool. It is believed that previous conversations held in 2023 regarding a move to Al Ittihad could be pivotal in a potential move to the Middle East.
“I thought there was a good opportunity to join the Saudi Professional League,” Salah previously said of a potential move to Saudi Arabia. “I believed that if I didn’t renew my contract with Liverpool, I might end up going to Liverpool.

“Relationships with the local people (in Saudi Arabia) are still good and ongoing. There were serious negotiations to sign me.”
Some Saudi clubs under the Public Investment Fund have already cut spending, but new funds are still available. Some players who moved to the Bay State in the first investment round are expected to leave when their contracts expire, potentially paving the way for more lucrative deals.
Redknapp has already backed Salah to move to Saudi Arabia as soon as possible. “I would be surprised if he saw out the remaining two years or a year and a half of his contract. I don’t think this would improve the situation one bit. Nothing in football would surprise me – whether it’s in January or maybe in the summer.”

“If the right club comes along…a lot will be determined by this guy. He’s earned that right. And if he says, ‘Look, if I’m not going to be a starter, I’m not one of those players to hang around. I’ll go wherever I need to go.’ I think he still wants to play in Europe.
“The first thing we all say is he’ll go to Saudi Arabia – he’s obviously a legend in the region – or he’ll want to go to the US, but for me right now this is a real breaking point in the relationship.”
