Roy Keane was unreserved in his assessment of Manchester United’s draw with West Ham as Diogo Dalot’s goal was canceled out by Sungutu Magassa.
Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane believes the Red Devils were “terrified” of winning against West Ham. Despite taking the lead, Ruben Amorim’s side could only draw at home and Keane believes they are not “troublesome” enough.
Diogo Dalot’s opening goal gave United a 1-0 lead in a lackluster display at Old Trafford. The Irons fought back and in the 83rd minute Jarrod Bowen’s header was blocked by Nousser Mazraoui on the goal line, but the rebound was wasted by Seungtu Magassa.
United missed another chance to move up the table. As with the defeat to Everton, Amorim’s side dropped points when they could have moved up to fifth place.
The players were booed at the final whistle, and the Theater of Dreams crowd seemed as annoyed as the club’s icon, Keane. The Irishman could not contain his frustration after the game and criticized his team’s lack of ambition to extend their advantage.
Keane told Sky Sports: “After they score they’re playing a team in the bottom three and they let off the gas. 1-0! You can’t take anything away from West Ham. They really deserved the equalizer.”

“You’re just putting pressure on yourself. Every time you look at this United team, they’re disappointed. They’re not clinical, they’re not mean enough to get the job done.”
“People will be scratching their heads. The moment they start to progress, if they win they will be fifth, there will be a lot of frustration.
“Show your quality. I think they were desperate in the last three or four games. It was really bad. They had a chance to get the job done and they were almost scared.”
“By the way, we’re talking about fifth place here. Same old problem.”
Keane was frustrated that his team lacked the intensity to win. “United have made substitutions and he has every right to do so, but watching the players go off it was as if they had won the league!” he added.
“Show some intensity. It was all about, ‘This is cool.’ You can’t be cool when you’re leading 1-0. Let’s get the job done!”
“United have better players than West Ham, but this is not a good team. We were too relaxed. Get the job done!”
United settled for eighth place in the Premier League, but West Ham failed to move out of the relegation zone thanks to victory over Leeds. Nevertheless, a key point in their battle.
Pundit Gary Neville was impressed with their goalscorer. “Magassa has done all the action on the pitch,” he said. “There were a lot of tackles. He’s been a destroyer, but he scored goals. He saved West Ham from a critical point.”
